Missing the wood for the trees

I came across the following video recently. I still haven’t brought myself to watch it to the end.

American Christian apologist Dr Frank Turek is talking to parents about what can be done to stem the exodus of young people out of evangelical Christianity once they get to their college campuses. Apparently 75% of evangelical Christian students walk away from their beliefs once they leave their evangelical Christian homes.

The danger is that college professors want to convert their students out of evangelical Christianity. He quotes the result of a recent survey claiming that college professors are five times as likely to be atheists as the general public.

Later on in the video he may have suggested the hypothesis that this could be because college professors on average think five times more than the general public, because that’s what they’re paid to do. But somehow I doubt it.

  1. 46 minutes! no wonder you couldn’t bring yourself to watch it to the end. I’m afraid I relied on your partial summary.

I think I could manage it as part of a research study into Evangelical cognitive structures with the hope of making college professors even better at subversion?
